Belconnen Gallery is showing an exhibition of a new branch
of artworks by Jennifer Kathleen Phillips. Jennifer stumbled
across digital imagery while investigating and exploring ways
to plan her paintings. She originally used computer programs
to do preliminary “sketches”, and this has developed into her
primary media. Her new digital art is showing until September
1.

Tuggeranong Arts
Centre continues to churn out exhibition after exhibition. The
work of Barak Zelig is currently occupying the gallery space
with a selection of beautiful drawings, paintings and prints
based on a series of works that were exhibited in Sydney and
New York. Next in queue is a show by local painter Carmel
McCrow. Her show entitled “Wealth” explores the artist’s
personal understanding of the word. Carmel uses a
representational style to depict her thoughts and responses to
“wealth”, and in doing so she has found herself questioning
“the values we place on the people, possessions, immediate
environment and the world at large”. Laced with detail, silver
and gold, the works are visually stunning. “Wealth” runs from
August 24 to September 3.
